Our story

How we got here.

A surprisingly long way to get to a fairly obvious conclusion.

  1. Before We Met

Probably already in the same room

Looking back, it's actually a little ridiculous that we didn't meet sooner. We both grew up in Stockholm, shared plenty of mutual friends, and somehow mastered the art of ending up at the exact same bars on the exact same nights without ever actually meeting. The universe was clearly taking its time.

  2. 2015-2018

    Finally introduced.

Thanks to bridesmaid Cecilia and Daniel's childhood friend Leo, we finally met. There was an instant connection, plenty of laughs and genuinely great conversations. We kept running into each other at Leo's bar over the years, but life had other plans for both of us. Looking back, it's fair to say neither of us was particularly good at taking the universe's hints. Had we been, we'd probably be celebrating our 12th anniversary this year. But here we are.

  3. Summer 2024

One message, one date against all odds, and an unreasonable number of phone calls

A few years later, one Facebook message from Daniel turned into a one-hour phone call. A week later became their first date.

They had agreed on a time, but Daniel suddenly dropped off the radar. No texts, no calls, nothing. Katarina, deciding she had apparently found yet another muppet, activated her inner leo and went for drinks with a friend instead. Daniel eventually reappeared with a lot of calls and texts, but by then Katarina was firmly in “you snooze, you lose” territory.

Once again, they were doing a remarkably good job of ignoring the universe. Luckily, Daniel had one last move. Katarina had forgotten to sort out strawberries for Midsummer the next day, so he turned up in Kungsholmen with six litres of strawberries and a generous portion of apology chocolate. Katarina swallowed her pride and met him by the water.

The universe, it seemed, was not taking no for an answer.

That summer, Katarina spent weeks travelling while Daniel somehow managed to tag along anyway, via phone. Whether she was wandering around Porto, leaving a club in Ibiza or “working” in the Red Bull garage at the Austrian GP, he was quite often there too, through the AirPod.

Deep conversations, laughter, sharing memories and making new ones. All through the phone. Daniel was literally glued to Katarina’s ear. Kind of a real-life Love Is Blind.

  4. Our first Years

    We really like to travel

The couple absolutely loves to travel, as might not have escaped anyone who follows Katarina on Instagram. Daniel has somehow accepted that entire days on a sunbed are now part of every sunny holiday. He’s thrilled.

Although they’ve travelled to quite a few countries together, Greece remains a firm favourite. The people, the souvlaki and the Zorba. Much to bridesmaid Elin’s delight.

Every summer also means Gotland, where Daniel spent his childhood summers. A tradition Katarina has happily adopted.

Another thing Daniel fell in love with was Katarina’s cooking. You’d think this would make him sit back and enjoy the benefits, but instead, his competitive side has kicked in. He now tries to impress her with carefully Googled recipes of his own.

Oysters are a reliable way to score points with the bride and groom, as Best Man Sam knows all too well. One time, he joined the couple after they had already ordered 20 oysters. To share between two. Sam looked mildly concerned.

They’ve also developed a slightly unhealthy relationship with Gröna Lund. Winning another stuffed animal no longer feels like a prize, just another storage problem.

  5. The Proposal

    London

In December 2025, things got suspicious at 7am at Arlanda. Daniel suddenly wanted them to take different security checks and see who could get through first. Katarina was not particularly impressed by this sudden competitive initiative. (The real reason? The ring hidden in Daniel’s jacket needed to make it through security unnoticed.)

Daniel had planned the rest of the trip down to the last detail. He booked a table at a jazz night at Katarina’s favourite hotel in London and worked with the hotel staff to set up a private spot by the Christmas-decorated open fire.

He then suggested they go and take a “photo”. What Katarina didn’t know was that the “photo” was in fact a video, with the hotel staff ready to capture the whole proposal. Katarina, however, was not playing along, forcing them to change the plan more than once.

Eventually, she followed him to the fireplace. Daniel went down on one knee, Katarina started crying, the hotel staff came with champagne, and the jazz band played their song, “Wonderful Tonight”.

    Cheesy, but oh so romantic.

The rest is why you’re reading this.

  6. Kraków

    With all of you

So here we are. We can't think of a better way to celebrate than having all our favourite people in one place. See you in Kraków.
